The Lettuce Pray Challenge
The domes went on. The seeds went in. Week 1 of the Lettuce Pray Challenge was all about germination — who sprouted, who stalled, and who was already making noise under a purple grow light.
Hazel leads after Week 1 with 34 points, powered by Simon — the week's highest-scoring pod at 18. Reed and Woody are tied at 31. Willow sits at 28 with Philip showing promise. Maple trails the field at 27, with Judas already in last place and doing nothing to change the narrative.
Everything changes when the domes come off.

The domes are off. The gloves are on. Week 2 of the Lettuce Pray Challenge is in the books, and for the first time, we can actually see what we're dealing with.
Reed's Control Group moved to the top of the leaderboard. Thomas and Peter — back row, quiet all of Week 1 — came out of nowhere. Thomas tied for the week's highest pod score at 20. Peter added 18. Combined, Reed put up 38 points and climbed to first place with 69 on the season.
Hazel is two points back at 67. Thaddeus matched Thomas at 20 — but Simon went quiet at 13. Woody sits third at 61, split between a strong James the Less and a struggling Levi. Willow is fourth at 58. Maple is fifth at 52. Judas is last. Again.
Full competition begins Week 3.

Week three. The domes have been off for a while now, the roots are doing whatever roots do down there in the dark, and the field has sorted itself into something resembling a competition. I say "resembling" because there is still a pod named Judas that is performing exactly as advertised.
Judas — Maple's entry, Pod 3 — came in at 9 out of 25 this week. Nine. I've seen more ambition in a parking meter. The leaves are thin, the color is uncertain, and the overall effect is of a plant that has made a series of poor decisions and is now living with the consequences.
Meanwhile, James Less — Pod 11 — scored 18. The Commissioner notes that Pod 11 showed broad canopy, rich color, and genuine density. As a grower, he will simply say that he is not surprised and leave it at that.
The variety story this week is real. Simon at 17, James Less at 18, Peter at 17 — the pods that are thriving are spreading, covering ground, making their presence known. The right side of this unit has become a burgundy tidal wave.
Reed holds first at 98 season to date. Hazel is one point behind at 97. Three weeks remain. The harvest bonus becomes available next week. A strong plant and a well-timed cut could flip this entire leaderboard in a single Tuesday. — Woody
